An artistic movementA group of artists who have agreed to work together to a set of principles or who are perceived to be working collectively by curators,... that was started in France by the poet Andre Breton, in 1924. It was influenced by the then new study of psychology and sought to represent the sub-conscious world of dreams and visions. It is characterised by the juxtaposition of incongruous objects. It lasted from the 1920s to the 1960s, and still influences many artistsPeople who are engaged in a broad spectrum of visually led ideas and activities aligned to the expressive arts and designersPeople who are engaged in the production of functional products, services and systems.
