Symbolism

Symmetry is related to the idea of balance and refers to parts of a figure being the same as other parts. A typical example would be a perfectly proportioned face or a building that is exactly the same on either side of a central dividing line. The term is common in mathematics and is often used as a basis for inter-disciplinary work.
